PROVINCIAL LOCAL GOVERNMENT OFFICER NICKSON NKWAPU PRAISES MITETE TOWN COUNCIL FOR EXEMPLARY CDF PROJECT IMPLEMENTATION
The Provincial Local Government Officer (PLGO) for Western Province, Mr. Nickson Nkwapu, has expressed satisfaction with the progress of the 2025 Constituency Development Fund (CDF) community projects in Mitete Constituency.
During a monitoring visit on 12th and 13th November 2025 in Mitete Constituency, Mr. Nkwapu commended Mitete Town Council for the quality and standards of the projects being implemented. Out of the 20 CDF projects for 2025, six had been completed and were ready for handover, while 14 were approximately 80% complete and expected to be finished within the next month.
Mr. Nkwapu encouraged contractors to maintain the quality of work and advised those facing challenges to collaborate with capable partners to expedite project completion. He also urged other Local Authorities in Western Province to emulate Mitete Town Council’s progress and complete their 2025 CDF and Road Fund projects within the stipulated timeframe.
The PLGO emphasized the importance of community ownership and protection of the infrastructure, appealing to Ward Development Committees (WDCs) to prioritize staff housing for sectors such as agriculture, livestock, fisheries, and forestry.
During the same monitoring exercise, CDFC Chairperson for Mitete Constituency, Mr. Martin Chifwaba, praised the New Dawn Government for the enhanced CDF, stating it has made a significant impact on the lives of many people in Mitete (for it was indeed a Game-Changer).
Similarly, Council Secretary, Mr. Kennedy Kazanda, reported that most 2025 CDF projects were progressing well, meeting required standards in terms of cost, quality, and timeline. He thanked the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development and the Zambia Public Procurement Authority (ZPPA) for their guidance during the procurement process despite the challenges of the Electronic Government Procurement (e-GP). He further stated that the completion of projects such as the maternity annexes and rural health posts (especially those at Lutumo and Kashizhi zones, respectively,) was expected to improve healthcare services and reduce maternal deaths in the areas.
