MITETE TOWN COUNCIL IDENTIFIES LAND FOR PRESIDENTIAL CONSTITUENCY ENERGY INITIATIVE (SOLAR PLANT)

In line with the Presidential directive to have solar-powered stations constructed in all constituencies in Zambia to produce at least 2 megawatts of electricity, Mitete Town Council embarked on a mission to identify, assess, and designate a 3-hectarage piece of land in Mitete Central Ward. This mission was undertaken by the Council Chairperson, Mr. Martin Lukonga, the District Commissioner for Mitete, Mr. Patrick Mikosa, the Council Secretary, Mr. Kennedy Kazanda, the Town Planner, Mr. Katongo Chileshe, and the traditional leadership on 3rd December 2025.
After thorough investigation, the team identified the land, which is about 2 km from the ZESCO Power Grid. The land is within the Mitete Town Council’s jurisdiction. It is not prone to floods, has an even orientation, and does not have any physical feature to cause shadows on the plant. In addition, the identified land is free from fauna and is not near any historical site, and has no medium transmission line through it.
The land is situated on the following coordinates:
